
All training provided by CCS adheres to American Heart Association guidelines. Students that meet passing requirements will receive certification and associated American Heart Association card, valid for two years. Course books may be purchased separately.
Many of our courses have an online option, where the learner can take the majority of the course at their own pace, followed by a short skills check in order to complete the certification. Of course, traditional course delivery is always available. Below is a brief description of our classes.

Healthcare Provider Certification and Renewal
This course is designed to teach the skills of CPR, including CPR for adults, children, and infants. Instruction includes, but is not limited to: ventilation with a barrier device, use of a bag-valve mask device with oxygen, and clearing foreign body airway obstructions. The use and operation of an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) is part of the lesson. This course is intended for use in the instruction of the healthcare provider for whom it is a requirement of their employment.

The PALS Course is an advanced course designed for healthcare providers who respond to emergencies in infants and children. These include personnel in emergency response, emergency medicine, intensive care and critical care units such as physicians, nurses, paramedics and others who need a PALS course completion card for job or other requirements.

AHA First Aid Training
Topics of education include the aspects of initiating immediate care, patient assessment, types of shock, bleeding injuries, heat/cold emergencies, and environmental injuries. This course is designed to teach students to identify injuries and apply appropriate treatment until the administration of advanced care.

Heartsaver CPR with AED
This course teaches CPR with the use of an Automatic External Defibrillator. Students learn to utilize barrier devices for use with rescue breathing. Signs and symptoms of a heart attack and/ or cardiac arrest, stroke, and clearing an airway obstruction are covered in the lesson. This course encompasses adult, child, and infant CPR.

This course provides information about adult, child, and infant chain of survival; signs of heart attack; cardiac arrest, stroke and choking; prevention of sudden infant death syndrome; and the prevention of some of the most common injuries to infants and children. Basic first aid techniques and safeguarding your home from hazards are covered in the lesson. There is no testing or card for this course.

Bloodborne pathogens are infectious microorganisms that travel in the blood and can sometimes cause fatal diseases when transmitted. This course is easily added on to one of our other offerings. This course provides a Certificate of Completion valid for one year.

Aspects of Drug and Alcohol Use
This non- AHA course addresses the short and long term effects of alcohol and drug use on the body. Other topics include the psychological and physical process of addiction, post-acute withdrawal, and social aspects of addictive behavior. This course is taught exclusively by experienced registered nurses. There is no testing or card for this course, and content can be tailored to suit the students' needs.

Naloxone Training
This Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene Overdose Response program teaches individuals how to recognize and respond to opioid-related overdoses and safely administer naloxone. Naloxone is a life-saving medication that can quickly restore the breathing of a person who has overdosed on heroin or prescription opioid pain medication. Successfully trained individuals will receive a certificate allowing them to purchase Naloxone directly from a Maryland pharmacy without a separate prescription.
